  1. General Provisions
    1. The Information Technologies Security Incident Response Institution of the Republic of Latvia CERT.LV (hereinafter — CERT.LV) of the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Latvia undertakes to maintain the security of the CERT.LV website (hereinafter — the website) and its website visitors’ personal information to protect their rights when visiting and browsing the CERT.LV website.

    3. This Policy has been prepared to provide visitors of the CERT.LV website with additional information about the cookies used on the website and how CERT.LV uses them.
  2. Information About the Cookies
    1. Cookies are small files of letters and numbers downloaded and stored on your computer or other devices (e.g., smartphone, tablet) that you use and are saved in your web browser when you visit a website. They may be used to keep track of what pages you visit on a website, store information you enter or remember your preferences, such as language settings, as you browse a website.
  3. Purpose and Legal Basis for Cookies
    1. CERT.LV uses cookies to ensure the website's operation and management, to analyse the use of the website, including to understand visitors’ activities on the website, and thus enabling improvements and making the website more user-friendly and better functioning.
    2. Cookies collect information about how you use the website. For this purpose, standard log information (connection time, duration, and IP address), and anonymous information about your activities on a specific website are collected.
    3. For your convenience, CERT.LV uses cookies to record whether or not you have agreed to the use of cookies on the website so that we do not have to ask for your consent again each time you visit the website.
    4. CERT.LV uses various types of cookies – cookies, which are placed by default ("necessary" cookies), and cookies used for analytical or marketing purposes, which require your consent. By giving your consent in the cookie message box when visiting the website, you choose whether or not to allow CERT.LV to use analytical and marketing cookies.
  4. Types of Cookies and Their Uses
    1. CERT.LV uses three categories of cookies, but only two of them — analytical and marketing cookies — requires the visitor’s consent. By accepting the analytical and marketing cookies category, you consent to all cookies in these categories (see section 4.1.2 and section 4.1.3.).
      1. Necessary cookies are essential and allow you to access different parts of the website. These cookies are stored on your computer, smartphone, tablet, or other devices during your visit and browsing on the website. These cookies are necessary for the website's functioning and, therefore, cannot be turned off. Thus, visitor consent is not required for this category of cookies.
        1. "ga_can_track" — this cookie is used to determine whether the visitor has consented to the use of cookies, storage period — one year;
        2. "TS01f56819" — security cookie, storage period – session time;
        3. "form_session" – security cookie, which is used so that the visitor can correctly fill out the form and register for the event, storage period – 2 hours.
      2. Analytical cookies — these track the number and sources of visits so that CERT.LV can measure and improve the performance of the website. They help to understand which pages are most and least used and how visitors move around the site. These cookies collect anonymous information about the visitor’s activities on the website (e.g., page visited, date, and time of visit), which is used for statistical and analytical purposes following the stated purposes. If you refuse the use of these cookies, your visit will not be included in the CERT.LV statistics, but at the same time, will not limit your activities on the website.
        1. "_ga" — the cookie used to identify unique website visitors by assigning each a randomly generated identifier ("Google Analytics" cookie), storage period — 2 years;
        2. "_ga_K38H6700V9", "_ga_FBDN21H66Q", "_ga_YRV204CWH2", "_ga_WYEP3G89Q7" — cookies used to store and track page views (“Google Analytics” cookies), storage period — 2 years;
        3. "_gat" — the cookie used to control the number of requests (“Google Analytics” cookie), storage period — 1 minute;
        4. "_gid" — cookie used to identify unique visitors to the website (“Google Analytics” cookie), storage period — 1 day.
      3. Marketing cookies – collect information about your habits by creating a visitor profile, and they address offers that match the interest shown by you. These cookies are used to help provide customised information to you and to analyse data flow. They also contain social media cookies that allow sharing of the content on social networks. Information collected by third parties may include data such as geographic location data (identified by IP address).
        1. "IDE" – this cookie registers and reports the Website user's actions after viewing or clicking on an advertisement with the purpose of measuring its efficacy and presenting the user with targeted advertising (“Google DoubleClick” cookie), storage period – 2 years;
        2. "DSID" – this cookie registers and reports the Website user's actions after viewing or clicking on an advertisement with the purpose of measuring its efficacy and presenting the user with targeted advertising (“Google DoubleClick” cookie), storage period – 2 weeks;
        3. "ar_debug" – this cookie is used to debug ads (“Google DoubleClick” cookie), storage period – 1 year;
        4. "ar_debug" – this cookie is used to debug ads (“Google Ad” cookie), storage period – 1 year.
    2. Third-party cookies – allow some website sections to display content from external service providers. To view the content of these third parties, you must first accept their special rules, such as the cookie policy, which is not within the competence of CERT.LV.
      1. CERT.LV has no right to interfere with the services of these third parties. Service providers can change their terms of use, purpose, and cookie policy at any time.

  5. Information About the Person's Consent to Cookies
    1. When you visit the website, the website will present you with the cookie message box. If you click on the "I agree" option, this will mean that you have accepted all cookies placed on the website, and confirm that you have read the information about cookies and the purposes for which they are used.
    2. No visitor consent is required for the necessary cookies, as these ensure the complete and uninterrupted display of the website content to provide you with a relevant digital browsing and online experience.
  6. Rejecting Cookies
    1. If you do not want analytical cookies to be used on your device when you visit the website, you must click on the “I do not agree” option in the cookie message box.
  7. Withdrawal of Consent
    1. You can change whether you allow CERT.LV to use analytical cookies or refuse their use at any time. However, you cannot refuse the necessary cookies (section 4.1.1).
    2. If you wish to give your consent or withdraw your previous consent to analytical cookies, please click on the relevant button.
  8. Cookie Management
    1. You can delete all cookies already set on your device by clearing the browsing history in the web browser. This action will delete all cookies from all websites you have visited. However, you should consider that in this way, it is possible to lose some of the saved information (for example, saved login data and website settings).
    2. You can check and adjust your web browser's cookie and privacy protection settings.
    3. Most modern web browsers allow to prevent cookies from being stored on the device, but then you may need to adjust some settings each time a website is visited manually. Some services and functions may not work correctly (for example, logging into a profile with saved data).
  9. Policy Changes
    1. If you have any questions about the processing of personal data, please get in touch with the CERT.LV Data Protection Officer at cert.
    2. CERT.LV has the right to change this Policy at any time. Any changes to the Policy will be published on the CERT.LV websites listed in Section 1.2.
